High Quality

During font engineering we constantly go back and forth: we test and then we fix, we test, we fix, we test, we fix ... until it's done.

Font-Quality is one of our key skills. That's why we go even beyond the regular testing: we develop our own testing tools like FontFamilyViewer and participate in open source technology like FontSpector.

FontFamilyViewer

This app displays all glyphs in a font family, including unencoded glyphs. Sorted by weight, width, and slope. Inconsistencies can be easily identified visually. Developed by Olli Meier.

FontSpector

It checks against OpenType specifications and industry standards. We participate in this open source quality assurance tool. FontSpector is a command-line tool written the the programming language Rust and is a port of Fontbakery.

We test fonts in different apps

We check fonts in browsers, MS Office or design apps like InDesign or Affinity. If you have special requirements, we are happy to find a solution for your special needs.

We care about different Operating Systems

Fonts should work on any system, not just a Mac – that's why we test the fonts within Apple and Microsoft.

Fonts should simply work, right? If a font has issues, people get frustrated very fast.

Working with fonts is our passion. We design, we master and we test. Every step in the process is as important as the other. Everyone makes mistakes and it's stupid to believe otherwise. That's why font quality assurance is so important.

If you want high-quality fonts, we are the best partner for you.

Of cause we check against industry standards written in the OpenType specification, but we also test fonts within the most the common applications (like Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign and Google Chrome) in two Operating Systems: Mac and Windows – just to be sure that they 'simply' work.

We do that little bit of extra work that makes all the difference.

Because the quality of fonts is so import for us, we go even beyond the regular testing: we develop our own testing tools (FontDev.app or FontFamilyViewer) and participate in open source technology like FontSpector as well.

If we have a chance to be involved into the process early, that's perfect. We then can get things right upfront – and don't need to fix it at the end. But even if you're at the very end of your process, with time pressure and complex issues – we are happy to help you find a proper solution.

Have you ever struggled with questions like 'How do I know if a font is good?', 'Is my font ready to be released?' or 'How can I make sure, that my font is not broken?' or in a more professional context: 'How do I make sure my fonts work in all operating systems and apps?' – then:
